dreaming of summer

two of my favorite things

I bought these forsythia branches weeks ago and it finally felt like spring in the house for a little bit. They are gone and its a very rainy day outside , blah! So I thought posting them on the blog would be a good reminder…and then this new favorite picture of my dog – toby seemed to go really well with it. So thats it: flowers and toby.

Thoughts on Film

So I have been shooting more and more film lately and I had yet to get it all processed. I finally sent off all the rolls to Richard Photo Lab in L.A. and just got them back today. They always do a fabulous job…but when I got these rolls back the thing that struck me the most was how close to reality film looks. In this world of digital/hi-definition/perfection there something lost in the media that we take in…soul…imperfection…reality. Mostly I am finding that the more I shoot with film the more I am capturing what i really remember…how it felt to be in that moment. In my weddings for 2011 I will be integrating film with my digital work so that I can really provide the best images for my clients. Anyway here is some film images from the Nicaraguan beach… and the light looks exactly like how I remember it :)

Nicaragua in Black & White

Sometimes I like travel photography in black and white. These are from a trip last year to Nicaragua. All of the beach shots were taken at Morgan’s Rock – an ecolodge that was so wonderful to stay at. We got to see monkeys, sloths, and baby turtles hatching out to sea right on the property!

THE DEAD OF WINTER
